It is interesting to note here that when you squeeze your pimple, you are actually doing something which comes under physical acne treatment. It is another matter though that you are strictly advised not to do so. Squeezing of pimples might result in the spread of the acne causing bacteria. It might lead to scarring. And in that case it cannot be called some form of acne treatment. Physical acne treatment should always be done under a doctor’s nose in controlled conditions. That is sure to minimize the risk and maximize the benefits.

We are going to have a look at some of the techniques being utilized in physical acne treatment.

We first of all take exfoliation. It is the process of removing the top layer of the skin to get rid of the dead cells and the clogging. This can be done chemically or with some abrasive materials. Chemically physical acne treatment can be achieved through salicylic acid or glycolic acid. What these chemical peels do is that these destroy a microscopic upper layer of the skin. This results in the removal of all the dead cells and the removal of clogging of the pores. You might also use some abrasive cloth or liquid scrub to achieve the same effect. There is one more thing to note here. Glycolic acid treatment can be continued for a period of over six months, after every two to four weeks. Salicylic acid is far milder than glycolic acid and as such can be used on a daily basis.

Then there is comedo extraction physical acne treatment. It involves the use of anesthetic cream in the affected area and using sterile instruments to open the top to remove the plugged cells and sebum. After that you would have to apply antibiotic cream to the affected area. What must be understood is that you should not try it at your home in any case. Squeezing and pickling is sure to result in aggravation of the acne and might also result in permanent scar.

The same goes with drainage physical acne treatment. It involves cure of cysts. As you must be aware of that cysts can prove to be very painful and might result in scar, it is essential that acne treatment must be undertaken. Drainage is one of the most effective ways to accomplish this. But it should always be undertaken in a dermatologist’s clinic with sterile instruments. And yes in no case you should try drainage at home by yourself.
